Membership Renewal Information
Pursuant to our club bylaws, all current members must submit an annual renewal form in the month of September. Membership Renewals not received by October 1st will result in the deactivation of your membership shortly thereafter. If for some reason you cannot renew your membership on or before October 1, 2026, contact the KKSA Secretary, Brenden Higashi, at secretary@kaisociety.org as soon as possible for an extension. If you have any questions about the membership renewal process, please contact the KKSA Secretary.
Please note that the Kai Ken Society is now charging dues to help support and maintain the club. Membership Types and Dues are listed below.
Membership Types and Annual Fees/Dues:
Individual Membership ($25 USD): For all persons 18 years of age or older and living in the United States, its Territories and Possessions, or in active U.S. military service abroad (including adult family members of those in active U.S. military service abroad). Individual Members enjoy all club privileges, including but not limited to attend all general meetings, receiving our quarterly newsletter, and the right to vote and hold office.
Foreign Membership ($25 USD): For those individuals 18 years of age or older who are not residents of the United States (or its Territories and Possessions). Foreign members may not vote on club business or hold office, but they receive all other benefits of membership, including the ability to participate in all general meetings and receive our newsletter.
Junior Membership (Free): Open to children under the age of 18. Junior members may not vote or hold office, and must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian before joining the KKSA. Junior members may apply for individual membership at age 18. A parent or guardian must submit a membership application for a prospective junior member. Junior members may not hold office or vote.
What happened to household membership? At the recommendation of the AKC’s Parent Club Committee and the advice it provided to clubs in its “Best Practices” documents, the KKSA has elected to eliminate the household membership category in 2026. Each KKSA member must complete their own renewal form and submit payment to the KKSA to remain a member.

Submitting Payment
The KKSA is accepting dues payments two ways this year.
You may pay via PayPal or mail a personal check to the club Secretary, Brenden Higashi, at 2106 79th Ave SE, Tumwater WA, 98501.
Make checks payable to “Kai Ken Society of America.”
To pay via PayPal (search Kai Ken Society of America or our username @KaiKenSocietyofAmerica).
Please note that paying via PayPal will result in the service charging a payment processing fee. Please add $1.01) to your total.
Please add a “note” to your PayPal transaction with your first and last name.
Donations:
If you would like to make a donation above or beyond your Dues Payment. Please do so as a separate transaction/check.
You will be asked to provide your PayPal transaction confirmation number or the check number of your personal check in the Membership Renewal Form so that we can make sure we track payments and their associated forms.
We recognize that the process outlined above is not necessarily the most seamless and user-friendly process. Once we have completed this membership renewal and dues collection cycle, our club Secretary will be working hard to streamline the process.
